PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd hands over the keys of brand new house to a centenarian
PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd has officially handed over the keys to a brand new house to Mrs Milatine Francis, a senior citizen in the community of Jimmit. General Manager of PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd Mr. Francisco Gonzalez said that the provision of the much-needed house is in keeping with their corporate responsibility of giving back to the community.
‘We made a lot of noise when we were constructing an antenna for the Marine facilities, so this is one of our many ways of compensating one of the senior citizens who were inconvenienced, said the General Manager.
Parliamentary Representative for the Mahaut Constituency, Honourable Rayburn Blackmoore highlighted the fact that Petro Caribe is more than just a physical installation of tanks, as various Programs which are responsive to the needs of Dominicans were able to materialize through its inception.
‘you see what happened in various localities across the country where people’s lives are being touched in various ways, and that is why I’ve said to you that I am so proud to be part of this Labour Party Administration; the only administration in Dominica that has demonstrated in clear and simple terms that the People come first. We recognize that without Human Resource base the country is doom to failure, and that is why we are placing emphasis on education, since poor hosing and lack of education are two primary causes of poverty’ he said.
Minister for Housing, Land Settlement and Water Resource, Honourable Reginald Austrie pledged Government’s commitment to continue caring for the elderly.
Austrie stated that ‘the three basic necessities of life are food, clothing and shelter,’ as he called on the recipients to be thankful.
In the interim, an emotional Milatine Francis expressed sincere gratitude to PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd as well as the government of Dominica for such a timely gift.
The house cost approximately $50,000.00 and was constructed mainly by the staff of PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd.
