Peace Corps volunteers undertake a ‘Go Green Roseau’ campaign

Environmentalist Mr. Atherton Martin is calling on Dominicans to join their efforts in promoting a ‘Go Green Roseau’ campaign, which got underway in Roseau on Saturday.

The campaign was organized by the Peace Corps volunteers, as part of activities marking their 50th anniversary.

Mr Martin says that he was pleased to be one of the partners in advocating for a clean and healthy environment.

Alvin Alexander was also one of the speakers who addressed the gathering before the cleanup campaign.

He spoke on the importance of volunteerism to society.

One of the Peace Corps volunteers said that the day’s activity surrounds the theme chosen to observe the anniversary ‘fifty years of education, engagement and enlightment.

There are currently 27 Peace Corps volunteers living and working in Dominica.

Volunteers have been serving in Dominica for the past 44 years, since 1967.
