Petro Caribe Hosts Health & Safety Expo
On Saturday May 3rd 2014, the petrol company hosted its annual Health & Safety exhibition which highlights issues of safety and health on the island.
During the event, Sales and Marketing Leader of Petro Caribe Dominica, Ian Pinard, revealed that the business of Petro Caribe goes beyond the distribution of petroleum products.
“At the heart we are a service company. We are an oil company with a social conscience and a social mission – the mission of improving the quality of life of Dominicans”, he said.
Pinard reiterated that health & safety are top priorities for the company as they seek to strengthen the safety culture in and around communities.
Paul Moses, General Manager at Petro Caribe supported the call, noting that the focus is to reach out to other institutions.
Training activities during this celebration included; hazard analysis and risk assessment, incident investigation, root cause analysis, advanced hazard communications and defensive driving.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit commended the company’s staff for their extraordinary service to the Dominican citizenry, stating that the PDV Caribe has touched the lives of every Dominican in every tier of society and in every community.
Petro Caribe was established in 2007 and employs about 38 locals, with 53 agents around Dominica, selling gas to most communities on the island.
A fire proof suit and helmet were also presented to the Fire Department during the activity.
