PM Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit pledges govt’s support to the newly sworn-in Colihaut Village Council
Prime Minister of Dominica Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit vowed to provide the much needed funds to the newly sworn-in Colihaut village council to rehabilitate two of the main agricultural roads in the community.
The Prime Minister made this disclosure while addressing the Colihaut Village Council’s Seventeenth Inaugural Meeting at the Colihaut Primary School on Monday March 14th, 2011, where eight (8) Councilors who are selected to govern the affairs of the Village Council for the next three (3) years, solemnly swore to faithfully discharge the duties of a member of the local government unit.
Incoming Chairman Najimi George says it is with deep humility that he accepts the esteemed position of Chairman of the Colihaut Village Council as he thanked both the villagers and his councilors for placing their confidence in him by selecting him; the youngest of the eight to head such an important body.
Parliamentary Representative for the Colihaut Constituency Mr. Ronald Toulon did not only congratulate the council but the residents of Colihaut for their active participation in the village council elections.
Prime Minister of Dominica Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit expressed similar sentiments to Mr. Toulon as he pledged government’s support to the Colihaut Village Council.
The five (5) elected councilors are Najimi George, Veronica Pascal, George Elizee, Eric Williams Jr. and Barry Casimir while the three nominated councilors are Deborah Leblanc-John, Wendell Shillingford and David St. Louis.
The Colihaut Village Council was first inaugurated in 1958.
