Police Escort Roseau Parl. Rep. Out of Geothermal Workshop
Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency, Honourable Norris Prevost was denied entry, during the official launch of an ongoing Geothermal Workshop, at the Fort Young Hotel.
The workshop builds on a geothermal project undertaken by the Government of Dominica in a bid to reduce electricity costs on the island.
According to Mr. Prevost, the officers came into the meeting where he was seating and instructed him to leave the meeting.
The officer said he was acting upon instructions from the Minister of National Security [Senator Alvin Bernard]to the Chief of Police.
Mr. Prevost says, as the Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central constituency he has a duty to represent his constituents and to be informed on this very important geothermal initiative by the Government.
He noted his escort out of the workshop, is a clear attempt by the Government to keep the Opposition from fully informing themselves about the geothermal project.
He also stated that he had written to the Government in advance, requesting permission for the Opposition to attend the meeting but his letter did not receive a response.
