Police Officer dismissed from the force
The Dominica Police Force has dismissed Ohsell Tyson, an officer who was recently charged for theft.
Mr. Tyson, was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the Easter weekend.
Mr. Tyson who is from Petite Savanne was charged for theft of 1 Glock 19 pistol, and 15 rounds of ammunition which was the property of the government of Dominica, valued at over EC$3,000.00.
He was granted $30, 000.00 by Magistrate Candia George, after he pleaded not guilty to the charge on April 10th, 2012.
Reports indicate that the officer allegedly sold the pistol to a civilian.
Other reports indicated that Mr. Tyson was on probation for another matter, when the theft allegedly took place.
He was dismissed less than two years since joining the police force.
