Positivity, Determination and Success
Positivity, determination and success – “Forging Trails to Great Destinations”, was the theme of the 29th Portsmouth Secondary School graduation ceremony on Friday June 30th 2011.
With the largest number of graduates at the end of the 2011 school year, PSS saw the passing through of 108 fifth formers, thirty-six boys and seventy-two girls.
In her feature address Ms Fredrica James, advised the graduates that they need strategies to navigate life’s trails to reach their many destinations.
The Principal of PSS, Ms L. Bristol congratulated the graduates for their hard work and commitment which has brought them through a very challenging academic year.
To her teaching staff Ms Bristol had the highest praise, she commented that the work done by the teachers, many of whom are continuing their own academic development is an example of excellence and commitment.
Ms Bristol stated that PSS provides the best possible educational programmes to its students, and this is evident in the 100% passes in over ten areas, which PSS can boast.
Awarded the honor of valedictorian for 2011, Esther Hyacinth, quoting William Jennings Bryant, stated that destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice, it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
