Primary Schools Independence Track and Field meet
Students from various primary schools island-wide met at the benjamin’s park playing field in portsmouth on Tuesday October 18th, for the primary schools independence track and field meet.
The event, held in observance of, the 33rd anniversary of Dominica’s independence, came on the heels of a very successful staging of the secondary schools athletics meet.
Students who participated and qualified, from the district preliminaries held during October 4th to 6th were the ones competing at the meet.
The North East, West Central, North, North West, South, South East and the South West are the seven districts that will participate in the grand final.
The students competed in events such as high jump, long jump, cricket ball throw, 4 x 60m and 4 x 80m relays and races such as 60, 80,150, 300, 1000 and 1200m.
Schools of the North East District were last year’s winner, and included schools from calibishie to the kalinago territory including concord, while the west central district included, schools in the roseau area and the Massacre Primary school took second place.
