Project shat out violence
The Youth Development Division has embarked upon a project geared at reducing incidents of crime violence and drug abuse among youths.
Assistant Coordinator of the Shat Out Violence Project, Gregory Riviere says that the division saw the need to address the issue of violence in the youths of Dominica.
The project that began with an anti- violence workshop, will host a series of workshops in four different locations and cover the eight districts in Dominica.
The participants will receive training on the impact of music on our culture, song writing skills, musical accompaniment, stage presentation and lighting.
The top 3 participants will move on to the finals at the Arawak House of Culture held in August where they will compose songs with lyrics that promote anti-violence.
The winner of the final song competition will receive as much as $3,000.00 along with an opportunity to record the winning song.
