Red Cross Society has long History of Providing 1st Aid Services
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Honourable Julius Timothy says, the Dominica Red Cross Society (DRC) has a long history of providing first aid services in emergency situations.
He made the statement during the donation of a new ambulance to the Society on Thursday June 12th.
Timothy added that, the Government of Dominica recognized the DRC as a voluntary aid society, auxiliary to the public authorities and in accordance with the provision of the first Geneva Convention of 1949.
“As we are well aware finance in the case of donations or grants is a key component of the fulfillment of the functions of the Dominica Red Cross,” Timothy explained.
The Minister noted, receiving new ambulances always improve the quality of first aid services provided by the Society.
With the recent donation, Dominica now has a total of seven ambulances, five of which are owned by the Government and managed and operated by the Fire & Ambulance Services.
He added voluntary human resource for the Red Cross plays an important role in the fulfillment of the responsibilities of the Society.
