Repeat Offender advised to be a role model to his son after being fined $ 5000 for cannabis
Magistrate Gloria Augustus has called on a 37 year old man to refrain from breaking the law, and be a role model to his children.
Flavian Bellot of Gallion appeared before the court on Tuesday, where he pled guilty to charges of possession and possession with intent to supply 1816 grams of cannabis.
Bellot was arrested after police found the drugs in what the court referred to as a ‘shack’ in the heights of Gallion, while investigating another matter.
Although his Defence Attorney, Peter Alleyne made a solid plea in mitigation on his behalf, Magistrate Augustus said that he needed to learn a lesson, after he served twelve (12) months at the Dominica State Prison for the same offence in 2007.
He was fined two thousand dollars ($2000) for possession and three thousand dollars ($3000) for possession with intent.
One thousand dollars ($1000) is to be paid by July 8th and August 2nd respectively or default three (3) months each in prison and the final payment of three thousand dollars ($3000) to be paid by October 28th, or an additional five (5) months in prison.
All sentences are to run concurrently.
