Residents of Calibishie to benefit from a newly built resource centre and a multi purpose hard-court
Residents of the community of Calibishie are expected to benefit from the construction of a much needed resource centre and a mutli purpose hard court.
The two facilities were commissioned by the newly-elected Calibishie Village Council at its 21st Inaugural Meeting, held at the Calibishie Resource Centre on Wednesday April, 6th, 2011.
While delivering her maiden speech as Chairperson of the Calibishie Village Council, Mrs. Elaine Alexander who came from humble beginnings urged the residents of Calibishie to play an active role in the overall development of the community.
Outgoing Chairman Mr. Angelo Joseph commended the Parliamentary Representative for the community of Calibishie Honourable Matthew Walter for obtaining the funds to undertake the two important aforementioned projects.
The first phase of the resource centre was funded in the sum of $345,000.00 while the multi purpose hard court was funded in the tune of $50,000.00.
Parliamentary Representative for the Calibishie Community Honourable Matthew Walter pledged his continued support to the newly elected council.
Like Mr. Walter, the Prime Minister of Dominica and Minister of Finance Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit also pledged government’s assistance to the Calibishie Village Council.
The five (5) elected councilors are John Peters, Elaine Alexander, Augustus Austrie, Mann Henry and Desmond Warrington while the three nominated councilors are Royce Alexander, Anthony George and Shemima Francis.
The Calibishie Village Council was first inaugurated in the year 1945.
