Retirees to benefit from the Dominica Public Service Union Retirees Section

Retirees in Dominica are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of social and intellectual stimulating activities, with the advent of a retirees section established by the Dominica Public Service Union.

The retirees section which was launched at the PSU building on Wednesday will provide an opportunity for retired persons to engage in collective, organized efforts to advocate for matters of interest to that section of the society.

General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union, Mr Thomas Letang says prior to the establishment of the unit, the DPSU had taken a decision to amend the union’s act, to ensure that retirees enjoy the same rights and privileges as other union members.

President of the Dominica Public Service Union, Mr Michael Joseph says the union welcomes this new initiative, since it allows retirees to further contribute to the development of the country.

He says the theme chosen to launch the section ‘repositioning ourselves for the future’ demonstrates their commitment in putting their members’ interest at the forefront.

Honorable Ambrose George, who represented the Prime Minister at Wednesday’s launching pledged the government’s support to the union.

The section is being managed by a seven-member executive.
