‘Road Safety Audit’ is the first for Dominica – Public Works Minister
Minister responsible for Public Works and Public Utilities, Honorable Rayburn Blackmoore has said that the Government of Dominica is pleased to have undertaken a Road Safety Audit for the first time in Dominica.
A Road Safety Audit (RSA) is basically the formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent, multi-disciplinary team.
It qualitatively estimates and reports on potential road safety issues and identifies opportunities for improvements in safety for all road users.
Mr. Blackmoore said that government’s decision to undertake such a measure is to ensure the longevity of Dominica’s road network.
The European Union is currently funding a number of road rehabilitation projects around the island in partnership with the government of Dominica.
Mr. Blackmoore said that Dominica’s topography continues to pose a number of challenges to the engineers, during the road rehabilitation process.
