ROSS University School of Medicine welcomes in excess of 250 new students
On September 10th, 2010 the ROSS Univeristy School of Medicine welcomed in excess of 250 students when they held their 2010 white coat ceremony. Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Minister of Health, Honorable Julius Timothy, other government ministers and staff and students of the University.
Keynote speaker Dr. Dawn Mellish Bedard, Chief of Ambulatory Care Service in New York said that the ceremony marks a point of significance for the potential medical practitioners.
According to her, ‘it is the point where you decide whether you really want to be a medical practitioner or not. It is the point where you decide whether you want to provide a service or not.’
She advised them to remain noble to the profession while putting their patients first at all times.
The ceremony included the donning of coats and pinning and the presentation of scrolls while the students recited their honor pledge and the morning prayer of the physician showing their commitment to the profession.
