Rotary Secondary Schools Quiz Competition
The St. Mary’s Academy and the Pierre Charles Secondary School have advanced to the final round of the Rotary Club of Dominica’s International Literary Quiz Competition.
The semi-final of the third National Literacy Quiz Competition, kicked off on Friday, March 21st at the Dominica State College Auditorium in Stockfarm.
Mr. Robert Tonge, President of the Dominica Rotary Club says this commemorative activity highlights the importance of literacy in advancing human development.
The competition forms part of activities carded for Rotary International Literary Month and sought to assist governments in their efforts to eradicate illiteracy and innumeracy among citizens.
Senior Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource, Ms. Chandler Hyacinth endorsed the activity.
“…by partnering with us and by us partnering with you in this activity, we are providing opportunities for our young people to express themselves and to develop themselves academically”, she stated.
Forms one and two of various secondary schools participate in the competition, answering questions centered on Mathematics, Science, History, Information Technology, Social Studies and current events.
Participants comprised of schools in the Southern Zone including; the Community High school, Wesley High school, Dominica Grammar School, Convent High School, Pierre Charles Secondary and the St. Mary’s Academy.
