Royal Caribbean Cruise hosts top Secondary School graduates
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line hosted top graduates from all Secondary Schools in Dominica last week Friday, in a joint effort initiated by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. Through this initiative, 46 students and 4 teachers were treated to lunch and a tour aboard the Serenade of the Seas, which was docked at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth.
Agent for HHV Whitchurch & Co Ltd, Mrs Keira Aird said that the students were selected by their schools from three different categories: ‘academic performance, sports and expressive arts’.
“Mrs Bellot is the one who went back and forth to coordinate the event to facilitate you aboard the ship; Serenade of the Seas. On your visit today, you’ll have lunch and a tour of the vessel to experience what the passengers normally experience on their cruise to Dominica”, said Aird.
The teachers selected were the outstanding secondary school teacher, the outstanding aspiring teacher, outstanding sports teacher and also, creative arts teacher. Mr Simeon Joseph of the Ministry of Education said that this gesture demonstrates their appreciation to both the students and teachers, for their hard work and dedication in education.
“This is to celebrate your achievement, to let you know that the Ministry of Education recognizes your efforts. That’s the main goal and objective; to ensure that you feel recognized, you need to feel special. You are Dominica’s top secondary students and we are hoping that this initiative can be held annually”, said Joseph.
