Salybia Primary School observe Literacy Week
Salybia Primary School students have reiterated the importance of reading, after they held a literacy march in the community on March 31st, 2011.
The main purpose of the march was to increase the awareness and develop the reading level at the school, which was held under the theme ‘read today for a better tomorrow’.
Preschool teacher Miss Connie Williams encouraged parents to join the school in the awareness process, by purchasing more books for their children as gifts, rather than toys.
Carib Chief, Mr Garnette Joseph pledged the Carib Council’s support towards the initiative, by making more material readily available for libraries in the Kalinago community.
The activity formed part of the school’s activities observing Literacy Week.
