Second Chances to host their first Seminar

‘Break the trend of crime, violence and substance abuse’ – this is the theme chosen by a group from the Community of Paix Bouche for a youth seminar which will be held at the Paix Bouche Primary School on July 8th.

Second Chances, has embarked on a journey to instill fundamental values in the youth of Dominica as it relates to behavioral patterns.

President of the group, Mr Alexis George says this seminar is just one of the many activities planned by the group, as part of their youth development thrust.

At Friday’s seminar, over five speakers are invited to educate the gathering on the long term effects that crime, violence and substance abuse.

Public Relations Officer of Second Chances, Verlanna Williams says a former Magistrate and ex-prisoners will form part of the panel on that night.

A number of sponsors have come on board to support the event. The event is expected to be carried live by SAT Telecommunications Ltd and local radio stations.

Free transportation will also be provided for young person living in the areas of Penville, Calibishie, and Clifton to Paix Bouche.

It is expected that some 500 to 700 young persons will attend this special seminar, which begins at 6:30pm.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is also one of the Guest Speakers, who will address the seminar on Friday.
