Secondary School Partakes in Bands Festival

On Tuesday April 30th , secondary schools Island-Wide, displayed their musical talents at a School Band Festival held at the Arawak House of Culture.

The movement organized by Music Missions International, a Canadian non-profit society, provided instruments to the students.

Mr. Steve Hyacinth, Chief Educational Officer stated, this event is indeed an opportunity to recognize the students’ skills and talents.

Most of the students who participated in the event were taught to play using a program at their schools called, “Band Today”.

This is an all-inclusive program that includes a variety of instruments which to ensure that all students learn, music theory, music history, and the ability to play.

The participants were: The North East Comprehensive, Pierre Charles Secondary, Orion Academy, Goodwill Secondary School, Convent High School, and the St Mary’s Academy.
