This quote was evident, after tragedy struck in the early hours of the morning of Friday April 19th, when Mr. Kurt Hector and Mr. Noran Jno. Hope lost their lives whilst on their way to the airport, where they would later represent Dominica at a football tournament in St. Vincent.

Many spectators and mourners were at the scene where the road to the Pond Casse area caved in. Inspector Richmond Valentine gives us more insight as to what exactly transpired.

The Inspector stated that subsequent to their extraction from the ditch both bodies were transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Honorable Kelver Darroux, expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, on behalf of his constituency.

Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit, amidst all the chaos and heavy rainfalls was at the site of the accident and also expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of the two men.

In an interview with Mr. Gerald George, Public Relations Officer for the Dominica Football Association said, it is a sad day for the Association.


Vehicle involved in accident

Mr. George said Mr. Hector had been appointed as the head coach of the team two years ago. He said the rankings for the national team were raised significantly under his administration. Mr. George’s last words to SAT news were: “he will be greatly missed”.

A very emotional Player of the Men’s National Team Mr. Lester Langlais, was lost for words as he tried to hold back his emotions from the terrible loss.

Mr. Langlais said that we should appreciate and give people their flowers while alive; he said the team was a closely knitted team.

Another National player, Mr. Joslyn Prince escaped death during the incident as he was a passenger in the vehicle.

However he is currently fighting for his life at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
