Seven to vie for the Morne Prosper Primary School calypso crown

Five boys and two girls will vie for the Morne Prosper Primary School’s fifth calypso crown, when the school hosts its 2011 calypso show on Friday, March 4th, 2011.

Principal of the School, Mr Algernon Ducreay says the event which is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm is aimed at raising funds for the school as well as preparing the students to participate in the junior monarch competition next year.

He says the event will also help the student to learn about Dominica’s culture by adopting the calypso artform, giving them the opportunity to build their self esteem in creative arts.

A contribution of $2.00 minimum will be accepted at the door.

A bar-b-que event will also form part of the fundraiser event.

The seven competitors are:

Steven Terry ‘Next Level’ – Let the children play

Keturah Allan ‘Cat Woman’ – No more slavery

Lauren Charles ‘Sugar Flower’ – Set a good example

Jurrel Charles ‘De Regulator’ – Right on Q
