shalom pre-school toddlers say farewell
31 adorable toddlers graduated from the prestigious Shalom Pre-School yesterday June 29th at the CSA Centre. Mrs. Janice Samuel, principal of the Shalom Pre-School, said that while the children are very excited to begin a new venture, the parents must play a vital role in helping them realize their dreams.
”You many think that the journey has ended but it has just begun and you have to play your part in these children’s’ lives.” said Mrs. Samuel.
One parent of a Graduant, Mr. Kerwin Guye, expressed gratitude to the Shalom Pre-School for the positive values that they have instilled in the children.
”Thanks to the Shalom Pre-School, you have done a great job over the past two years and we, the parents, have to let our children know it is just the beginning.” said Mr. Guye.
Minister of education, Honourable Petter Saint-Jean commended the principal and staff of the Shalom Pre-School for the sacrifices they have made for the children, whom he described as “The foundation of this nation” and also commended the parents, especially the fathers for their active involvement in their children’s educational lives. He continued by saying that the celebration marked the beginning of a new beginning, in what should be a very long future for their children. He advised them to continue to play an important role in their children’s lives in order to ensure that they contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
”I do not only want us to focus on our children while they are in primary school, when everyone is thinking of the grade six national assessment and as to whether my child will get a scholarship or bursary. We should work with our children at home and nurture them to ensure a brighter future.” Mr. Saint- Jean said.
Having recognized the many challenges that pre-schools are faced with, Mr. Saint- Jean said that the government will ensure that pre-schools receive the necessary assistance for their school’s development. This he says will be outlined in the 2010/2011 budget address on July 13th.
