Six drug addicts turn over a new leaf
Students of the St. Luke’s Primary School had the privilege of witnessing the reinsertion of several drug addicts and alcoholics into society as positive contributors.
They received the opportunity to view this major transformation process, when Wisdom to Know, which is a substance abuse programme, held its first ever re-entrant ceremony at the St. Luke’s Primary School on Monday January 31st, 2011.
While delivering the opening remarks at yesterday’s ceremony, Executive Director of Wisdom to Know, Mr. Bonti Liverpool said that they are pleased to be partnering with the St. Luke’s Primary School in this venture.
President of Wisdom to Know, Mr. Anthony Commodore said that they will not waiver in their efforts to fight the scourge of drug abuse that is plaguing the future generation.
Coordinator of the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit, Mrs Jacinta Bannis who represented the Minister of Health at the re-entrant ceremony described the service as fitting, as it coincided with activities marking drug awareness month which was celebrated during the month of January.
Meanwhile one of the re-entrants, Mr. Vivian Stephens says he never believed that he would have been able to make such a major transformation in his life.
Wisdom to Know; which is the only alcohol rehabilitation programme of its kind on the island, has been in existence for approximately three (3) years.
