SMA and St. John’s Primary is 2014 Math Power Contest Winners

math-power-contest-300x225St Mary’s Academy (SMA) has dominated the finals of the 2014 National Math Power Contest, capturing first place in both the Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary categories of the competition with 59 and 45 points respectively.

In the upper secondary schools category, Convent High School placed second with 39 points, followed by Dominica Grammar School with 27 points.

In the lower secondary schools category, the Orion Academy came second with 55 points and Portsmouth Secondary School third with 49 points.

Other secondary schools participating were Portsmouth Secondary, Orion Academy, St. John’s Academy, Castle Bruce Secondary School, North East Comprehensive School, Dominica Seventh Day Adventist School and the Pierre Charles Secondary.

Meanwhile the St. John’s Primary School captured first place in the Primary Schools category winning with 61 points, followed by the Roseau Primary with 56 points and St. Martin’s Primary with 54.

Other primary schools including Newtown, Colihaut, and the Roseau Seventh Day Adventist Primary School participated in the event hosted at the Arawak House of Culture on Thursday, May 8th.
