SMP Tops Round 2 of DBS National Reading Competition

Aldi Xavier, of the St. Mary’s Primary School won the second round of the DBS National Reading Competition on Friday June 21st.

With a panel of three judges, Annicia Coipel of the St. Martin Primary School came in second place, followed by Merkayla Jno. Baptiste of the Convent Preparatory in third place.

The articulate Mr. Xavier captured 264 points.

Ms. Coipel, coming in at second place, also did a decent job in her articulation and pronunciation.

She read a report from Honorable Charles Savrin.

Convent Prepatory student Mikala Jno- Baptiste who won the preliminary round, on June 14th, with a total of 267 points came in third place.

She read a report on Dominica’s Cruise Ship season.

Other participants in the competition were the Newtown primary Primary, Tete Morne Primary, Ebenezer SDA Primary, St. Luke’s Primary, Roseau Primary, Bagatelle Primary, and Petite Savanne Primary Schools.
