SMSS Hosts Calypso Show And Bar-Be-Que To Raise Funds For A New Roof
Many made an appearance at the St. Martin Secondary School (SMSS), on Tuesday 29th, where a Calypso Concert and bar-be-que was held to raise funds for the renovation of two rooftops.
The financial help of the public has never been more important for the St. Martin Secondary School, and with a continous income and planned agenda, they believe they can budget for and carry out the important work of the School.
Ms. Jervier, Teacher at SMSS says the aim is to raise $60.000 to renew the roofs of the Food Lab and the teacher’s office.
When it rains, water enters the food lab and the teachers and students are forced to use buckets to collect the water.
The roof of the office is the same as the Food Lab she says, however the teachers are the ones affected.
In terms of the event, Ms. Jervier noted it was a staff initiative although the students were very involved.
She added that a successfulevent does not necessarily have to raise huge amounts of money because all efforts are greatly appreciated.
Ms. Jervier said although fund-raising seemed like hard work for the students, they kept it simple and accepted offers of help which made it fun t and extremely rewarding.
The rooftops have been in a deplorable state for over a year, therefore the school is determined to raise funds until they have reached their aim.
For those who were not able to make it to the event and wants to make a donation, persons can feel free to make their contribution at the school’s office.
