Spanish Day Activities
The Embassy of The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in collaboration with The Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation (IVVC) celebrated the ninth (9th) annual Spanish Language Week from Monday, November 15th-19th, 2010. At the closing ceremony which was held on Friday, November 19th, 2010 at The Public Service Union (PSU), National Coordinator of The Bolivarian Alliance of The Americas (ALBA), Dr. Philbert Aaron said that Spanish Week was a success as a range of activities was carried out in commemoration of the event.
Venezuelan Ambassador to Dominica, Carmen Martinez de Grijalva expressed her gratitude to all those who assisted to make this year’s Spanish Week a major success as she stressed on the importance of learning Spanish since this breaks the barrier between the different cultures.
There were performances by The Dominica Grammar School, The Dominica State College, The Wesley High School, The Orion Academy, The Dominica Community High School, The Saint Mary’s Academy (winner of the linguistic competition), The Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, The IVVC and German Rodriguez.
