Sporting Facility Named In Honour of Deceased Footballers
In light of the tragic accident in Pond Case on Friday April 19th 2013 that claimed the lives of Coach Kirt Hector and Footballer Norran Jno. Hope, the Government of Dominica has taken a decision to rename the public sporting facility in La Plaine from ‘R. M. G Sports Complex’ to ‘The Kirt Hector and Norran John. Hope Sports Complex’.
This was done in honour of the late coach and player of the National Football Team of Dominica.
In spite of their sudden passing, the names ‘Kirt Hector’ and ‘Norran John. Hope’ and their contribution to sports in Dominica will forever live on the lips, and in the hearts of residents and visitors to La Plaine, the Southeast and in Dominica’s history.
In addition, the Government of Dominica will grant two Scholarships of the Dominica State College (DSC), to aspiring young sports personalities of good academic standing in the Southeast in honour of both Kirt Hector and Norran John. Hope.
A Government Scholarship will also be awarded to Kelly Hector, daughter of Kirt Hector, to facilitate completion of her studies at the Dominica State College.
Honourable Petter Saint Jean, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development and Parliamentary Representative of La Plaine on behalf of the Government of Dominica, and the entire community of the southeast extends sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
Mr. St. Jean stated, the gestures in the names of Mr. Hector and Mr. John. Hope are the Government’s way of memorializing the two, while also committing to the further development of sports and sports personalities in La Plaine specifically and Dominica in general.
