St Joseph to launch their carnival this weekend
The community which is popularly known for its sensay, St Joseph, will on Saturday, February 19th, 2011, open its carnival with a grand street parade and opening ceremony, starting from 1:00pm.
The activity, which is organized by the St Joseph Carnival Development Committee with support from parliamentary representative for the St Joseph constituency, Honorable Kelver Darroux, will launch its 2011 carnival calendar of events at Rodney’s Rock, which they have dubbed, the carnival city for Mas St Joe.
Public Relations Officer of the St Joseph Carnival Development Committee, Mr Conrad Shillingford says a popular bouyon band from a northern community will provide accompaniment for the street parade on Saturday.
Mr Shillingford says the parade will include a number of costume groups and bands, but the main spectacle will be a massive sensay display, which is expected to color the streets of St Joseph.
The parade will begin from the Mahaut market and will culminate at St Joseph’s carnival city, at Rodney’s Rock.
Persons expected to address the Opening Ceremony at Rodney’s Rock include the Parliamentary Representative for the St Joseph constituency, Honorable Kelver Darroux, DFC officials and the Minister of Tourism and Legal Affairs, Honorable Ian Douglas.
