Teachers Need to be Role Models
Teachers have been called upon to live exemplary lives since their students look up to them.
This call was made by the chief education officer, Mr. Stephenson Hyacinth, in his address at the opening ceremony of the Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) summer workshop on Monday.
Mr Hyacinth says teachers should be in a position to give inspiration to their students at all times.
Mr Hyacinth said that students emulate their teachers even if they are not aware of it.
Teachers are being encouraged to behave appropriately at all times, since they hold a position which impacts the lives of their students.
He also emphasized the need for teachers to dress modestly, pointing out that ‘there are some outfits which are just not appropriate for school‘.
Teachers were also warned to avoid illicit and inappropriate relationships at schools.
