The advent of night landing will have a positive impact on the WCMF, says Sobers Esprit
Chairman of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) Sobers Esprit believes that the initiation of night landing will have a positive impact on the World Creole Music Festival.
His statement came just one day after Dominica commenced night landing at the Melville Hall Airport, after receiving certification from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA).
Esprit believes that the advent of night landing, which began on September 8th, 2010, will help to expand the festival beyond its current market, as the island can now facilitate both landing and takeoffs up to 10pm daily.
‘We can now look at markets such as Louisiana where there is a strong ethnic and Creole population,’ he said.
Esprit who said that they were limited in trying to get people into Dominica due to the lack of air access, now believes there is going to be a major boost in terms of getting more patrons to come to the festival.
