The Dominica Association of Foreign Language Department (DAFLT) host National French Day
A march from the Peeble’s Park in Roseau to the Arawak House of Culture formed part of activities marking National French Day which was held in Dominica on today, organized by the Dominica Association of Foreign Language Department (DAFLT).
Fourth form students from all 16 secondary schools on the island participated in the event which culminated with an entertainment show at the Arawak House of Culture.
President of the Dominica Association of foreign language teachers, Miss Magalie Celestine says that students should continue learning the French language, especially as Dominica is situated between two French islands.
National correspondent of the Francophonie Office, Mrs Akpa says they will continue to work with other agencies like Alliance Francaise De La Dominique, to support the promotion of the French language on the island.
As part of the activities, students dramatized some popular and classical French fables, while displaying their talents through song, dance and poetry.
There were guest performances by Ophelia Marie, Elisha Benoit, Asher Thomas and Michele Henderson-Delsol in french.
