The Dominica Council on Ageing calls for unity among senior citizens in Dominica in 2011
The Dominica Council on Ageing is calling for unity among senior citizens in Dominica, making it one of their priority areas of development during 2011.
This call came from the President of the Dominica council on ageing, Evander Joseph while addressing the association’s Christmas lunch programme for senior citizens of Dominica (AFSCOD), on Sunday, January 9th, 2010 at the Goodwill Parish Hall.
The lunch was held in partnership with an affiliate association, Association Martiniquaise pour la Promotion et L’insertion de L’age d’or (AMDOR) of Martinique, who is responsible for promotion and inclusion of senior citizens in Martinique for the past twenty years.
Joseph says while their main aim is to ensure that all senior citizens enjoy a comfortable life, unity remain critical in achieving that goal.
Chairman of the entertainment committee of AFSCOD says every year the association convenes an event that is aimed at bringing all members together to socialize while at the same time, awarding several persons who have contributed towards the development of the association.
At Sunday’s programme awards and certificates were presented to a number of individuals.
One lucky individual also received a prize trip to Martinique as part of a Caribbean exchange programme.
Mr. Frants Remy, Director of AMDOR was also presented with a plaque from AFSCOD.
