The Dominica Council on Ageing celebrates month of the elderly
The Dominica Council on Ageing (DCOA) is observing the month of September as the month of the elderly. In this regard, the Council has planned a month of activities leading up to October 1st, which is designated as International Day of Older Persons, by the United Nations.
President of the DCOA Mr. Evander Joseph said that during the month of September the Council plans to increase awareness on the importance of senior citizens and to bring their many concerns to the fore.
Some of these activities include, Health Walks, Radio and Television Programs, and Ecumenical Services, to name a few.
Mr. Joseph said that their flagship event will be held on October 1st, where senior citizens across the island will receive the opportunity to meet with Cabinet to speak on the issues that are of concern to them such as housing, pension and gratuity and insurance policies, among others.
