The DSWMC to introduce a more effective billing system to householders and businesses
Effective February 01st, 2011, the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) will be introducing a more effective billing system to householders and businesses in Dominica for the collection and disposal of garbage.
While expounding on the new billing system, Public Relations Officer at the DSWMC Mr. Jeno Jacobs says the contribution made by customers is very critical to the corporation in fulfilling its mandate, which is to keep the island clean and protect citizens from health risks associated with the improper disposal of solid waste.
In that regard, Mr. Jacobs says the Corporation is seeking the public’s support to sustain its top of the line collection and disposal system.
As part of the move, the corporation has already begun an Express Delivery Service (EDS) to collect waste from businesses in the city of Roseau on a daily basis.
Mr. Jacobs is therefore, encouraging the various business organizations to embrace the program in ensuring that Roseau remains as the cleanest capital in the Caribbean.
The corporation has also enhanced its services with the addition of four vehicles to its fleet and the implementation of an effective backup system in order to ensure that no waste is left in the environment.
They are also providing continuous training for all drivers and Sanitary Engineers under a Customer Relations Training Programme, as it seeks to provide excellent service to its customers.
