The Glam X-Men qualifies for the Premier League Finals
In a very exciting and entertaining night of basketball in the Lime National Basketball Playoffs played last night, Wednesday September 22nd, 2010 the Glam X-Men qualified for the finals while Gloria Shillingford Raptors avoided elimination by wining game 1 against the Juggernauts.
In Game 1, Gloria Shillingford Raptors with 64 points, won over Salisbury Juggernauts by 3 points. The top scorers for Raptors were Steve Hypolite with 19 points, and Devon Barton and Curtis Akiel with 14 points each while in a losing effort Ridge Vidal and Edmond Andrew scored 18 and 10 points, respectively. The series is now tied 1-1. Game three will be played on Friday or Saturday at the Lindo Park in Goodwill. The winning team will meet the Raffoul Snipers of Paix Bouche in the finals.
In Game 2, in another nail biting finish the highly favored Glam X-Men survived a scare from the United Insurance Sharks by pulling off a last minute come back to win the game. With 3 minutes remaining the X-Men was down by 9 points, but some tenacious defense and turnovers by the Sharks allowed the X-Men to get back into the game and allowed veteran player Davidson Toulon to hit a big three pointer with no time remaining to win the game. Final score The Glam X-Men 73 points to United Insurance Sharks 70 points, top scoring for X-Men were Simon Joseph 12 points, Joseph Hypolite 12 and Davidson Toulon 11 points and for Sharks Royce Ceasar scored 24 points, Iverson JnoBaptiste 19 points and Clem Nicholas 10 points. This result allowed X-Men to qualify for the finals winning the series 2-0.
The games will continue tomorrow Friday September 24th, with the Paix Bouche Eagles verses Lime Pros at the Lindo Park in Goodwill.
