The Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the America’s Youth Demonstration
A youth demonstration at the Arawak House of Culture on Sunday, January 23rd, 2011, culminated a number of activities held in Dominica by the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas, in observance of the 205th Leeward Islands District Conference.
President of the Youth and Young Adult Commission of the Dominica circuit, Pearl Richards Xavier says during the conference, consideration was given to the role of young people, in an attempt to address the many issues affecting the youth of Dominica.
Among the many other presentations, one of the highlights at the youth demonstration was a play entitled ‘it only takes a spark’, written by Reverend Dr. Wycherley V. Gumbs and directed by Steve Hyacinth.
‘It only takes a spark’ was intended to remind Methodists of the rich heritage of their many ancestors of the faith.
It also enabled youth and adults to learn, and work with each other, thus symbolizing a right of passage which is essential for the dream of the Methodist Church, which began 250 years ago, to live on.
