The National Bank of Dominica partners with the DFC to present the 2nd Annual Kweyol Village Lyme

In recent past, several fringe events have emerged to broaden the activities offered and to appeal to the senses of the many visitors that are attracted by the pulsating rhythms of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), and the NBD Kweyol village Lyme is just one of such events.

NBD’s Kweyol Village Lyme which was first introduced to the public in 2009 is geared at increasing the public’s participation in Dominica’s independence activities, through the celebration of the islands’ arts, culture, music and local cuisine.

The event is aimed at offering a real Kweyol Village experience through local dishes such as goat water, crayfish water, labi, fish, local fruits, display of local crafts and market produce and Dominica’s traditional dances.

Marketing Officer at the National Bank of Dominica, Miss Amanda Scotland said that the festival has proven to be a critical area in which the Bank is granted an opportunity to showcase the island’s unique Cultural Heritage.

“Having recognized that most of the fringe activities are centered in the Capital City of Roseau, we have decided to stage one of the Segments of the Kweyol Village Lyme in the town of Portsmouth,” explained Miss Scotland.

According to her, together with their partners, they will be hosting the other two nights in the City of Roseau.

The event will take place from 5pm – 11pm nightly and in Portsmouth it will begin at 6pm.

Kweyol Village Lyme is separated into three (3) various categories, namely the Kweyol Mele, Kweyol Panorama and Kweyol Fete.

Kweyol Mele which will be held on Friday, October 8th at the Roseau Bayfront will feature Phase 5 Steel Band, Pointe Mitchel and Tradibelle Cultural Group, Kross Vybez, Sakis Lapeau Kabwit and Caribbean Vybez.
