Namibia is also known as the smile of Africa because, of its geographical position and the friendliness and warmth of its citizens.
Currently the country has a population of 1.7 million and covers an area of approximately 824,269 square km.
In the heart of this beautiful country lies the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. As the country itself, Windhoek was at one stage first occupied by Germany and then by South Africa.
Namibia was a German protectorate from 1884 till 1915, when South Africa defeated the German colonial troops in the first year of the First World War.
