Today in History: S.H. Love Patents Improvement to Military Gun
On this day, in 1919, S H. Love, from Colt, Arkansas, served in Europe during WWI, where he always claimed he had passed on to a buddy the idea for a draw theater curtain, as opposed to one which dropped from the ceiling.
However He developed an idea to improve military guns, for which he applied and was granted a patent on April 22nd 1919, Patent no. 1,301,143.
