Traffic Collision in Canefield

The police are conducting investigations into a road traffic collision which occurred on the E.O Leblanc Highway in the vicinity of the National Petroleum Petrol Station in Canefield about 8:15 am on February 14, 2013.

It involved Toyota car registration number PJ797 driven by Kattisha Ferreira and Honda CRV registration number PG 304 driven by Jefferson George of Jimmit.

They were travelling westwards and Nissan bus registration number HB 855 driven by Wayne Williams of Canefield East which was travelling eastward.

The collision occurred when the driver of vehicle registration number PG304, attempted to avoid colliding with the car from the rear and in so doing partly collided with the right rear of the car.

The car collided with the bus which was travelling in the opposite direction causing extensive damage to the bus.

Six persons were injured in the collision which included the CRV driver and the bus driver who was trapped in his seat.

He was later removed by personnel of the Fire and Ambulances Services.

All the injured persons were transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Investigations are continuing.
