Training for National Volleyball Players Begin
24 male volleyball players have been selected for the Dominica national team’s training squad for round two of the World Championship qualifying tournament.
This event is scheduled for June 13th to 17th 2013 in Guadeloupe.
Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association (DAVA), Mr. Kairann George stated, training began on Wednesday April 17th at the LIME Sports Complex in River Estate.
He said the men will take part in round two of the World Championship Qualifiers which is the World Cup for Volleyball. They won gold medals in round one in Tortola in 2012, which qualified them for group M.
Teams in that zone include Guadeloupe, Grenada and Honduras who will battle each other to advance to round three.
Mr. George stated, the women’s national team also qualified with gold medals for round two of the World Cup Qualifiers that takes place from June 20th to 24th.
The women’s practice has already begun. They practice on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at the LIME Sports Complex in River Estate.
Games that have been scheduled for the official schedule on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s have all been postponed to accommodate national training.
Mr. George added the players are in high spirits thus far.
