Training Session Held to Assist Security Personnel

A five day training which commenced at the Fort Young Hotel on Monday June 10th   is geared at training security personnel to protect the Tourism Industry by ensuring that visitors on the Island are safe.

This training session was organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Legal Affairs and the Dominica Police.

President of the Dominica Hotel Tourism Association (DHTA) Ms. Yvonne Armour spoke on the importance of the training.

The Caribbean is the most tourism dependent Region in the World and safety and security are vital in the Industry.

Ms. Armour believes the success and failure of any Tourism Industry is being able to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors.

Recognition was given to the establishment of the Crime Stoppers Dominica, for the contribution in fighting crime in Dominica.

She wished the participants a successful training and advised them to commit to partnering with the public sector and all relevant agencies to create a safe environment for visitors.
