Transformation of Dexia to Export Dominica on Track
Plans are on the way to transform the Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA), to Export Dominica, according to Minister of Trade, Employment, Industry and Diaspora Affairs, Honourable Colin Mc Intyre.
Doctor Mc Intyre noted that this new Organization will aid in guiding trade in the country.
This transformation from DEXIA to Export Dominica was initially highlighted by Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, during the 2012/2013 National Budget.
Dr. Mc. Intyre added, numerous meetings on the matter were held in order to move forward. He said, they received funds from the CARICOM Development Fund which will go towards the needed materials.
“We do not only want to look at Agriculture, we want to look at our Cultural Industries including Mining and Tourism,” he stated.
He noted, the initial factor that they want to begin with is Agriculture.
Together with the Bureau of Standards, the necessary principles are in place to develop agricultural exports.
Some of their exports go to countries including St. Martin, Guadeloupe and Antigua.
