Triple Kay International’s Band Leader Kendel Laurent tenders his resignation

While the Triple Kay International Band is describing their recent tour as a major success, Manager of the Band Emile Depooter is confirming that the Band Leader Kendel Laurent has officially tendered his resignation.

While resisting to reveal too much details on the matter, Depooter said that Kendel’s decision was as a result of some unresolved issues within the band that have gone on for “too long”.

However, Depooter believes that a recent misunderstanding might have led to his momentarily resignation.

“There was an incident that took place over the summer whilst the Band was on tour… they were saying that they don’t think it was economically viable to go to Belgium and in fact refused to go…however, I tried all in my power to facilitate their trip but they were refusing to listen to what I had to say so I got upset and I told them well in that case I didn’t want to have anything to do with the band.”

Nonetheless, he said that the band overcame this and has since gone to Belgium as the promoter paid for all the airline tickets.

Depooter said that the band does not have any plans of finding a permanent replacement for Kendel as he is free to return whenever he so desires.

He also made it fundamentally clear that the band is not exploring the possibility of a change of name, even though its name represents three of the founding Members who have all resigned.

Meanwhile, Engineering Assistant and Back up Keys, Jeoffrey Joseph said that the band fully supports Kendel’s decision and will continue to perform to the best of their abilities despite the setback.

Lead Singer Wayne ‘Benji’ Benjamin also added his two senses as he urged the public to focus on the band’s positive attributes instead of the negative. He also dismissed speculations that he may be contemplating going solo.

The Band recently returned to Dominica after an extensive tour of the Caribbean and Europe.

As one of the founding members, Kendel’s resignation comes at a time when the Group is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The Triple Kay International started as the Triple Kay Band from the village of Laudat in 2000. The name of the band was formed as a result of the combination of the three first letters of the Founding Members names-Kenan Cadette, Kurt Rolle and Kendel Laurent.

Presently the band stands with Lead Vocalists Wayne “Mr. Benji n²0″ Benjamin, David “Tarzan” George and Lennan “Ticky” Matthew. Daniel “Brush Head” Phillip-Bass, Engineering Assistant, Jeoffrey “JJ Yout” Joseph – Back Keys, Leonel Edwards Guitars, Jason “Froggy” Joseph – Drums, Kimani “Tempo” Daley – Groovebox Controller, Drum Programming. James Rodney is the road Manager. The Band has produced six albums to date, namely, “Big Ting”, “Fanatik”, “Sewo”, “All out”, “Pressure” and “Colours”.
