Two Books Launched Illustrates Caribbean Culture, Politics and History

Author of “Look Back”, Trish Cooke, was represented by the Publisher, Polly Pattullo

The Nature Island Literary Festival in its pursuit to encourage the Dominican Society that reading, Writing and the art of Literature can all lead to regional development, launched two books depicting Caribbean Origins.

The event which was held on August 8th, at the Anchorage Hotel boasts of two individuals a playwright and novelist both of Caribbean descents.

“Send Out You Hand”, written by Antiguan Playwright, and first time Author, Dobrene E. O’Marde said his book is about a political love story.

Mr. O’ Marde said his involvement in managerial positions, politics, experience in writing and theater throughout his life gave inspired him to write this book.

The book “Send out You Hand” was written in three but took an additional year to complete. The book is presently on the market for only $50 EC.

According to Mr. O’ Marde, he has written five full length plays and a number of short plays which have been performed numerous times in Dominica.

The book has been launched in Antigua and Dominica.

The Author of “Look Back”, Trish Cooke, was represented by the Publisher, Polly Pattullo said that this book is important for Dominicans so that they can be more conscious of their history and culture.

Ms. Patullo urged Dominicans to purchase “Look Back” which cost only $25 EC.

Trish Coooke was born in England but is of Dominican parentage.

Cooke’s most famous book is called “Amazing Grace” and has sold over one million copies.
