Two Major Housing Projects to Commence in Bath Estate Before Year’s End
Residents of Bathe Estate will soon have more housing options, as the Government is actively pursuing two major housing projects for that community.
The housing projects are said to be part of the government’s wider Housing Revolution Programme.
Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South Constituency Honourable Ambrose George made the announcement of the project.
Mr. George says the need to provide adequate, suitable and equitable housing has remained a major priority for the government, while stating that the project is in keeping with that thrust.
He said that one site for the project is, at the old site of the Survey’s department, and the other one is the playing field in Elmshall located close to the river.
He mentioned that, since assuming office, the labor party Government has undertaken several initiatives, to improve the housing conditions of the poor and underprivileged in rural communities across the island.
The minister says the designs are very advanced, and very soon before year end, we will see the commencement of the construction of those apartment buildings.
The Parliamentary representative is hoping that, the apartments when built, will assist in fulfilling the housing needs on the island.
Mr. George pointed out that he knows there are several young people in particular, from the Bath Estate and adjoining areas that will benefit from those new apartment buildings.
The two housing projects will be constructed on Government owned lands and will compliment government’s policy for providing adequate comfortable housing for all Dominicans.
The cost of the project has not been disclosed.
