UWP Holds Public Meeting on Leadership Change in Pointe Michel
On Thursday July 18th, at a public meeting at She-Mer-Neff, in Pointe Michel, Honourable Edison James, outgoing Political Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) along with other UWP Parliamentarians, spoke on the pending UWP Leadership change.
Earlier this week, Hon. James announced that he will not be seeking re-election as MP for the Marigot Constituency, neither will he be seeking re-election as Political Leader of the UWP, at its next delegates Conference.
Mr. James also announced that the Marigot Constituency has selected Dominican and Caribbean Media professional, Lennox Linton, to be the candidate for the Marigot Constituency, and has recommended him to the Executive Management Committee of the Party, for a final approval of their selection.
Dominicans from across the country attended the Poinet Michel Public meeting, where Hon. Edison James and other speakers shed further light on the UWP leadership choices.
Issues affecting the residents of Pointe Michel were addressed including: land and property as well as road conditions.
Honourable Hector John, Leader of the Opposition, believes overall, it was a great turn out and there was great participation from the public.
