Waitikubuli National Trail to get more exposure

DOM TextSide_2011The Waitikubuli National Trail is expected to get an added boost of exposure, following a visit by Kelly Bastone, a freelance writer and contributing editor to Backpacker Magazine.

Her visit was hosted by the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).

Bastone was accompanied by photographer and colleague, Rachid Dahnoun, they were on island from May 5 to 15, 2014 to predominately hike and experience the Caribbean’s longest distance hiking trail – the Waitikubuli National Trail (WNT).

The editor was commissioned to research and write a destination narrative on Dominica’s efforts at becoming a hiker’s paradise for Backpacker Magazine.

They were particularly interested in hiking key segments of the Trail, which will be presented within the larger context of hiking trails, accommodation, and adventure travel opportunities on the island.

While on island, the team also hiked one of Dominica’s signature attractions, the Boiling Lake.

The 3,000 to 4,000 word article is slated for the November 2014 issue and has a circulation of 340,000 print and 1,069,000 digital and online editions in the USA and Canada.
